I picked up Good Vibes, Good Life expecting something light and motivational.

That is exactly what I got.

Vex King is a social media coach and author who built a massive following by talking about mindset, energy, and self-love. This book is an extension of that: warm, accessible, and full of practical ideas about how to think better and live better.

My honest take? If you are new to self-development, this book will feel like a revelation. Every chapter has something that makes you stop and think. If you have read a lot in this space already, some of it will feel familiar. But the quotes, the quotes are genuinely good. Vex King has a way of saying things simply that makes you feel seen.

I collected the 50 best ones here.

    About the Book

Good Vibes, Good Life is built on a single idea: that your energy creates your reality. What you think, feel, and say has an effect on what comes back to you. Vex King calls this the “law of vibration” and spends the book helping readers raise theirs.

He discusses self-love, boundaries, toxic relationships, the ego, mindfulness and manifestation. The chapters are all short and readable. Some personal stories from his own hard past give real weight to the advice.

    My Honest Take

I want to be upfront with you.

This is not a book that will give you detailed, research-backed practices. It will not walk you through a ten-step system or cite studies. If you want that kind of depth, look at something like Think Again by Adam Grant or Atomic Habits by James Clear.

What Good Vibes Good Life does really well is make you feel hopeful. It is warm. It is kind. And for someone going through a hard season or just starting to work on themselves, it is a genuinely good place to begin.

I read it when I needed something light and left it feeling better about things. That counts for a lot.

    Quotes About Self-Love

These are the ones I marked first.

    1. "Self-love is the balance between accepting yourself as you are while knowing you deserve better, and then working towards it."

This is the best definition of self-love I have read anywhere. Not toxic positivity. Not settling. The actual balance.

    2. "Stop trying to impress people. Impress yourself. Stretch yourself. Test yourself. Be the best version of you that you can be."

    3. "Don't let socially constructed ideas about beauty lower your self-esteem. There are no rules to beauty. Accept and love yourself as you are. Embrace your flaws and get comfortable in your own skin."

    4. "You won't be important to other people all the time, and that's why you have to be important to yourself."

    5. "Beating yourself up will not change the situation. It's what you strive for next that matters most."

    6. "Physical beauty does nothing but satisfy physical needs. Only those with real substance can satisfy the hearts, minds and souls of others."

    7. "I realize that the good, the bad and the downright ugly events are all a part of who I've become."

    Quotes About Energy and Vibes

This is the heart of the book.

    8. "The Universe responds to your vibration. It'll return whatever energy you put out."

    9. "Higher states of vibration will help you feel good, which means you can manifest more good things in your life."

    10. "Surround yourself with people who are vibin' higher than you. Be around people who are feeling better than you are. Energy is contagious."

    11. "The feelings we project are returned on a like-for-like basis through our experiences."

    12. "If you can act like someone who feels good, your internal state will change and your vibration will rise."

    13. "Before you try to fix someone else's vibe, make sure you're not killing your own in the process. Protect your own energy first."

    14. "It is much easier to see the good in life when you are around positive people."

    Quotes About Mindset and Thinking

    15. "Change the way you think, feel, speak and act, and you begin to change your world."

    16. "Positive thinking is the act of choosing ideas that empower you over those that limit you."

    17. "You're goal isn't to get rid of negative thoughts. It's to change your response to them. You're only ever one positive thought away from a more desirable outcome."

    18. "If you can't change a situation, change your perception of it. That's where your power is. Either be controlled or be in control."

    19. "What you consume, consumes you. What consumes you, controls your life."

    20. "What you verbalize will eventually materialize. You have the power to talk aspects of your reality into existence."

    21. "Words can hurt, help or heal. There's power in everything you write and say. Your message is significant. Be wise with it."

    22. "Ignoring negative emotions is like keeping poison in your system."

    23. "The Universe is abundant in all areas. The illusion of fear is the only limitation we have."

Quotes About Other People and Boundaries

    These hit hard.

    24. "It's important to recognize that it's not unjust to let go of those who show no concern for you."

    25. "It's not selfish or a sign of weakness to distance yourself or walk away from those who constantly bring down your vibe. Life is about balance."

    26. "You can't change those who aren't ready to change."

    27. "Drama is for TV, not for real life. Don't play a part in someone else's episode in which they are the only star."

I laughed out loud at this one. But also — it is so true.

    28. "Abuse and criticism disguised as feedback doesn't deserve your attention."

    29. "Some negative people are allergic to positivity. Be so positive that they can't stand being near you."

    30. "Always review your behaviors and make an effort to change any that are toxic — towards yourself or others."

    31. "Walking away from something unhealthy shows great bravery, even if you stumble a little on your way out of the door."

    32. "If you keep trying to satisfy others, you will never keep up. In the end, you will satisfy neither of them nor yourself."

      49. "Our ego always wants to feel significant and adored. It seeks instant gratification. It wants to feel more powerful than other people."

      50. "Less is always more when your less means more."

5 Quotes I Think About Most

If I had to pick just five from the whole book, these are the ones I keep coming back to.

      1. On self-love:"Self-love is the balance between accepting yourself as you are while knowing you deserve better, and then working towards it."

      2. On boundaries:"It's not selfish or a sign of weakness to distance yourself from those who constantly bring down your vibe."

      3. On the present:"Now is the only time you have."

      4. On goals:"You'll get the job, the partner, the house. Just don't rush the process, trust it. You have to grow into your dreams."

      5. On other people:"You can't change those who aren't ready to change."

That last one took me years to actually believe. Now I think about it often.

Is Good Vibes Good Life Worth Reading?
