Kritee is the kindest and friendliest person I've met on bookstagram. Forever supportive and encouraging, I love her cheerful attitude, and her ever-bubbly attitude is so infectious. We got introduced through her business. She is an artist who creates perfect replicas from book covers or literary characters as bookmarks. I loved the bookmarks she made for me from the as yet unread series that has been forever on my TBR - The Hunger Games. Custom-made for me, the bookmarks are plastics coated to avoid damage and come in pretty colors.

Hi! I am Kritee Choudhary ! A 20 year old college student who loves reading painting and dogs more than anything else!


When did you start reading? Tell us about your love for everything bookish.

I began reading at the age of around 13, my first reads where The Alchemist and books by Chetan Bhagat. 
Reading is my solace, it is  something that  keeps me sane. It has become a part of life , something that I can’t let go off.

 

Why did you start your bookstagram?

The idea behind bookstagram was to combine my love for art along with my love for books and discuss about books I read. Initially I kept my page as a strictly business page, but eventually I started sharing my views on and about the books that I read on bookstagram.


What’s your favorite aspect of bookstagram? What is your not so favorite aspect of bookstagram?


Bookstagram is an amazing community in my opinion. My favorite aspect of bookstagram community is the support, friendliness and the overall positive vibe which this place gives to me!As of now, I don’t dislike anything about bookstagram.


You have a bookmarks business where you customize book marks – tell us more about it. Do you plan to diversify from bookmarks into other bookish accessories?

The whole idea of selling handmade bookmark was conceived within 5 minutes .I was while watching “2 broke girls” on amazon prime as I was eating  my breakfast when this whole idea struck my mind. I make book cover art, bookish prints and bookmarks based on books, movies and fictional characters that we all love!
I am yet to figure out everything on the diversification part. I would really love to launch other bookish merch sometime in the near future.

How often do you paint or create art for your business? What other hobbies do you have?

I don’t follow a fixed schedule as  there are days when I am unable to get even the simplest of brush strokes right. I tend to paint when it comes from within.
Apart from painting and reading, I like to learn playing musical instruments and travel in my spare time.



What is your inspiration for bookmarks? The book cover or the book characters or book quotes? What is it that your clients usually ask for? Your favorite character, cover and book quote. 

My love for reading has inspired me to make bookmarks. I really love making them for my clients! 
My clients generally ask for customized Bookmarks and Book covers based on their favourite books, characters, memes and quotes.
My all-time favorite book cover is that of the thousand splendid suns by khaled hosseini.
There are a lot of quotes which I like but the quote: “If you only read the books that everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking” by Haruki Murakami is my favorite!


How do you find new books to read?

I find my next reads from a variety of sources including Pinterest, Goodreads and Bookstagram.


Do you remember which book first got you hooked and turned you into a book lover for life?

 

Murder on the Orient Express would be the book which transformed me into an avid reader. I was completely mesmerized by the reading experience and then there was no looking back!

Who are your favorite authors/books?

Khaled Hossieni is one of my favourite authors . Harry Potter series by JK Rowling, Becoming by Michelle Obama, Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie and the Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hossieni are some of  my favorite books.

Is there a book you’re embarrassed to say you love?

I don’t remember of any book which I would be embarrassed to say I loved. I believe an author puts in a lot of efforts in writing a book and if I like it I would definitely speak of it without any embarrassment.
