Summary
It’s the story of an ultimate heist. It starts with an impossible event in Grisha land, something unbelievable, even in the magic realm, has happened. The stage is set.
Then you’re introduced to the one and only Kaz Brekker (my new fictional crush). This was followed by an introduction to his Dregs. Then Kaz lands the coveted heist with a reward none can overlook. Next – you meet all the Crows. There’s some serious fun collecting the team too. But the team is ready.
Then there’s the impossible-looking planning of scaling The Ice Court in search of the most elusive scientist. Followed by the execution of the plan with obvious mishappenings and misadventures. But other parties are looking for the same prize.
And because the best-laid plans mostly turn out to be a failure. Everything, although a victory, falls apart in the end because Kaz made a silly mistake.

My review
A fantasy series you must read.
Everything and I mean everything about this book, is excellent. As you read, you realize that the author planned everything down to a T.
The writing is crisp. The characters are flawed but written flawlessly, the pace – just perfectly gripping, the plot. Oh, the plot. What a plot. Classic bad guys fighting for a good purpose trope.
Bardugo’s minute planning, the organization to detail, and crisp writing pours out of every page. This book is a fantasy lover’s dream book. Especially the young readers. Because I was surprised to realize that all of the central characters are not anything above 18.
I haven’t read any other books by this author although she has written plenty. But I’m thankful I picked this one. I loved it.
Final verdict
There’s magic, there’s romance, there’s an adventure, there’s a mystery, there’s the thrill and there’s some philosophy too. In short, it’s captivating, fascinating, and completely unputdownable.
I’ll take away one star because all the questions I had in my mind haven’t been put to rest as yet. I hope to give a perfect rating if I’m contented by the end of the next book. I looked forward to concluding this duology satisfactorily in the Crooked Kingdom. Fingers crossed. Can't wait.
Who Should Read This
Must-read for fantasy lovers. But for those that don't indulge in Fantasy but feel like indulging in one once in a while must not miss this series.

Summary
Finally finished off the series everyone on Bookstagram had been talking about and I feel glad I picked it up.
The book opens with Wylan still masking Kuwei Yul-Bo’s features since Nina didn’t trust herself with her powers now. It has been just under a week since the Dregs reached Ketterdam, almost a month since they’d left Djerholm. And they're all fighting to get Inej back before Van Eck could have his way with her. Then they also have to get back the humongous amount of money Van Eck promised them but swindled away with it. Meanwhile, the entire Ketterdam is rising against Kaz and his secret antiques, including Pekka Rollins his sworn enemy. The challenges are many and fatal but the six crows are determined to make the best out of the worst.
My Review
Was most definitely entertaining, with plenty of plot twists towards the latter half of the book.
All questions regarding the twists were also put to rest in the last couple of chapters.
Overall the series was a good read for me. Welcome, change. I wish there was more discussion about the Grisha magic system, it was my favorite part in the first book. I kept wondering how Kaz came up with full-blown elaborate plans that would double-cross everyone, without any hitches or glitches.
But the bitter-sweet ending couldn’t have been better. And please allow me to change my favorite character to Nina, she showed all the true spirit, drama, and flair required for her character and carried it off until the very end with panache.
The final rating for Crooked Kingdoms – 4 stars.
The overall rating for the series – 4 stars.
