Summary

Coopers Chase is a retirement home in England, with roughly 300 residents. What’s notable is that it is ultra-luxurious and four of its inhabitants are senior citizens solving old unsolved murder cases. They meet every Thursday secretly in the Jigsaw room and work on cases using their own special and unique abilities. They believe at their age it’s important to keep the mind fit.

Little do they know that they are about to get a case right from their neighborhood and fresh of the charts (if I can say so).

My Review

Tony Curran, a builder has been bludgeoned to death in his home. The team is on the trail of the murderer when he lands up dead right in front of their eyes. Who killed him? One among their own?

The book sets off to a slow start, what with the introductions to the club and the background on the English police officers involved, and the background on the murder. Plus some events at Cooper Chase have been described in great detail along with the relationships between the club members.

But a few chapters in and then the story picks up excitement and speed and holds it till the very end. I enjoyed everything thereafter. The camaraderie between the club members, their helping and teasing the police officers for the clues, and surprisingly even their routine and leisurely lifestyles. It was a great fun read.

Final Verdict

Long things short it was a charming, refreshing, picturesque, smart, fun story that I was engaged in thoroughly. And I could NOT guess the murderers. Not a chance.

Who Should Read This

Definitely recommend it to fans of Agatha Christie and Sir Arthur Canon Doyle.
