I love my Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited Subscription. Apart from my favorite series, I’ve read a lot of books using it. I recently discovered that many Indian Author books are available on it either entirely free (as part of the subscription), or the more recent releases are available at a very nominal charge.

I want to share these discoveries here today for all my Indian Readers. Many of these authors have written stories from Indian mythology and religion, while some venture into the evergreen genre of romance.

Christopher C, Doyle

Author of the Fiction Genre. He graduated from St. Stephens College, Delhi, with a degree in Economics and studied business management at IIM Calcutta. Blending ancient Indian legends with science and history to make a page-turning read is his forte. The Mahabharata Secret, his debut novel, was published in 2013, that went on to become a bestseller. The following year he released another book, The Mahabharata Quest: The Alexander Secret, which became another successful book by the author. After that, he has been unstoppable. He has published a book almost every year, much to the delight of Indian fans. Following is a link to all his gripping books.

Durjoy Datta

He explores the genre Young Adult and YA Romance. Durjoy Datta, an engineer from Delhi Technological University, wrote his first novel, Of Course, I Love you, during his college years. He did his post-graduation in Finance management in Germany, and after a few years at a banking job, he took up writing as a full-time career. He has published more than 15 novels since his first in 2008.

All his coffee table contemporary romances are available on Kindle Unlimited for less than Rs.100.

Ashwin Sanghi

Which Indian reader doesn’t know the author of Chanakya’s Chant? Ashwin Sanghi lime lighted as an established author with this book, but this was his second book, ‘The Rozabal Line’ being his first. An Indian businessman, graduate from St.Xaviers’ College, and MBA from Yale school of management. He has also co-authored several self-help books and surprisingly co-authored a murder mystery based in Mumbai with the lingering mystery – James Patterson. His most recent release in 2020 was the Vault of Vishnu, an action-packed blend of myth and history. Sanghi writes for the genres Historical Fiction. Mystery and Thrillers and Religion and Spirituality.

Ajay Pandey

Another contemporary romance Indian author is Ajay Pandey. His most popular works include You are the Best Wife: A True Love Story released in 2015, Her last wish was released in 2016, You are the best friend released in 2017, and A Girl To Remember released in 2018. One oh more recent releases in May of 2020 has been An Unexpected Gift. His most popular novel You are the best wife and the latest, an unexpected gift are available on Kindle for free and the rest are available for less than Rs. 50.

Amish Tripathi

His story is one of many firsts. He writes for Genres  Mythological/historical Fiction, Fiction, Fantasy. Amish Tripathi Is one of India's rare authors to be in the 5 million book sales club. His bestselling Shiva Trilogy has been loved widely all over the country and abroad. A management graduate from IIM Kolkata is a banker and the Director of The Nehru Center in London. His award-winning novels encouraged him to plunge into writing full time. His bestselling mythology-based books include The Immortals of Meluha (Shiva Trilogy, #1), The Secret of the Nagas (Shiva Trilogy #2), The Oath of the Vayuputras (Shiva Trilogy, #3), Scion of Ikshvaku (Ram Chandra #1), Sita: Warrior of Mithila (Ram Chandra #2), Raavan: Enemy of Aryavarta (Ram Chandra #3). Writes mainly for the Indian mythology genre and sometimes also for the business books genre. His famous works incorporate Mahabharata and Ramayana, sacred Indian lores that talk about religion. Jaya: An Illustrated Retelling of the Mahabharata is his most famous book and available on KU for less than Rs. 100. Some of his mythology-based books like Krishna’s Secret and Ramayana versus Mahabharata: My Playful comparison are available for free on KU. He has also written business books like How to Become Rich and How to take Decisions that are available on Ku. The author himself actually sketches out all of the illustrations present in his books.

Vineet Bajpai

The author of the book Harappa - Curse of the Blood River is an entrepreneur and CEO of a top-ten company. He is an award-winning digital entrepreneur. His career and passion have led him to write for multiple genres like Historical Fiction, Business, and Self-Help. He is the author of three bestselling management & inspirational books – Build From Scratch, The Street to the Highway, and The 30 Something CEO. Vineet graduated from Delhi University and did a Post Graduate Diploma in Business management. All his books, Historical fiction, and self-help, are available on Kindle Unlimited to read for free.

Chetan Bhagat

This author was responsible for revolutionizing English novels in India. His first novel Five Point Someone, was published in 2004, speaks about life inside the IITs. It went on to become a bestseller. His second novel One Night @the Call Center, was inspired by his villainous boss at his banking job. It became another bestseller. He then published his third novel The 3 mistakes of my Life, and sold 5 lakh copies in three months. There was no looking back now. Five of his novels were adapted into movies. He also ventured into non-fiction with books like What Young India Wants and Making India Awesome. His latest book being a fictional murder mystery titled One Arranged Murder, released in 2020.

 Except for his 2020 release, all Bhagat’s other novels are available to Kindle Unlimited Subscribers for free. 

Arpit Vageria

He has written scripts for the Indian television industry and stories and dialogues for many fiction and non- fiction television series and award functions. Originally from Indore, he currently lives in Mumbai. He writes for the genre romance, fiction, and contemporary.

Anand Neelakantan

Anand Neelakantan’s Asura is Amazon’s one of the 100 books to be read in a lifetime. Born on Cochin's outskirts, Kerala, in a village with more temples than necessary, he was drawn to the anti-hero Raavana. He graduated as an engineer and went on to join the corporate life but returned to his passion for the Asura emperor.
