Ava O’Hara is finally marrying hunky Simon, the love of her life. The wedding dress is on, the make-up is done, the bridesmaids are ready and the guests are eagerly awaiting her big moment. Then, as she’s just about to walk down the aisle on what should be the happiest day of her life, she discovers a shocking secret about Simon. In utter disbelief, Ava makes a quick getaway – rescued by her loyal Bride Squad!

“The truth is, in life everyone is capable of hurting you, you’ve just got to find the ones worth suffering for.”

My Summary

Ava O’Hara, who works at a gallery, is about to get married to her longtime boyfriend, Simon, a struggling musician in a gig working band. But why does the marriage feel like a chore to get done instead of a dream come true? Because the reality is about to hit soon, over the air, and in the face. And who is going to rescue her, her best friends from college whom she wasn’t in touch with for a very long time?

My Review

The story is simple, but the journey through the read is so much fun. The writing was so effortless and well-paced, and the story flowed through without any glitches.

I immensely enjoyed the characters and the strong bond of friendship between Ava, Cate, and Lauren. They are strong, they are independent and yet so different in their backgrounds and their work. My favorite was Lauren. I loved her badass attitude and glamorous looks.

The story although chick-lit, is also surprisingly packed with substance. Several themes have been touched in the story like the importance of art, the challenges of being a stay-at-home mom, social media's influence on the young generation, and yet never was the tale any bit boring or tedious in an "Oh, enough with the advice," kind of way. The themes were gently and interestingly weaved into the story as witty banter between the friends. Their blunt and from-the-heart conversation was so refreshing.

Final Verdict

A light read, this is a must-read for chick-lit fans.

Happy reading!
