Summary
Veronica Jacobs, aka VJ, is standing on a parapet and is about to commit suicide. A happy-go-lucky Aditya Bakshi, aka Adi, is strumming a guitar nearby, jumps in to save the heroine. There begins their love story. VJ is a quintessential girl from Goa who is faced with the typical challenges a struggling model/actor faces. And frustrated with failures and people taking advantage of her, she decides to end her life. Not only does Adi save an inebriated VJ, but he also gives her a place to stay, shoots her portfolio, and gets her an assignment at his uncle’s production house, which happens to be the biggest one in Mumbai. Adi has his own set of problems; having lost his mother at birth, he yearns for his father’s love, who is busy being the best businessman in town.
Having set her up for a modeling assignment, Adi then offers to pay for her house in Goa that is riddled with loans. Just when VJ thinks that everything is perfect in her life, her job, love, fame, and money, a crushing secret brings down the world for everyone who knows Adi. Will their love blossom past this life-altering happenstance?
My Review
I wouldn’t say I loved the book. But it was an okay read. The book has a lovely cover with soothing colors and a picture of the couple in love. It is attractive.
I loved the little poems the author has written in between the chapters to express the feelings the characters are going through. The book is a lesson in selfless love.
The plot fits a Bollywood movie with the right doses of glamor, romance, rom-com, and twists.
Final Verdict
I would have loved to see more depth to the story and characters; it seemed too superficial. I rate it 3 stars out of 5.
Who Should Read This
I recommend this novel for beginners in the romance genre. The language is easy to read, and the story is quick to get through.
