Hey there, book lovers!

August 2024 was a bit of a hectic month.

My reading list ended up being shorter than usual.

With work commitments piling up and focusing on building my writing portfolio, I only managed to finish three books.

If you're curious about my writing journey, check out my portfolio on Medium.

Even though I couldn’t read as many books as I would have liked, the ones I did read were mostly non-fiction, and they offered some valuable insights.

So, let’s dive into the non-fiction reads that shaped my August!

The No Show by Beth O'Leary

The No-Show by Beth O'Leary is a fantastic read.

It tells the story of three women who are all stood up by the same man on Valentine's Day. There's Siobhan, a life coach, Miranda, a tree climber, and Jane, a charity shop volunteer. Each woman’s story is unique, and as you read, you begin to wonder how it all connects.

Beth O'Leary’s writing is light yet full of heart. The book had moments that made me laugh very hard, and others tugged at my emotions. The twists surprised me, and the characters feel real.

The only downside might be the confusion at first with multiple storylines, but it all comes together beautifully. If you love stories about relationships, with a mix of romance and mystery, this book is perfect for you. The No-Show gets a solid five stars from me!

The book offers practical tips on crafting messages that grab attention and convert readers into customers. One of the best things about this book is how easy it is to understand. Edwards breaks down complicated ideas into simple steps. However, some sections might feel repetitive. Still, it’s full of useful tips for both beginners and experienced writers.

Million Dollar Weekend by Noah Kagan is an inspiring and practical guide for anyone looking to kickstart their entrepreneurial journey.

The book breaks down how Kagan turned a weekend into a successful business idea that made a million dollars. He shares actionable tips, such as focusing on one idea, testing it quickly, and learning from failures. His storytelling style is engaging and motivational, making it easy to follow and apply the lessons.

One of the best things about this book I liked is that it encourages readers to take action immediately. I loved his straightforward approach, and how he didn't overcomplicate things. On the downside, the book is short and might leave some readers wanting more in-depth details.

If you're someone who has been dreaming about starting a business but doesn’t know where to begin, this book is perfect for you.

I’ve also begun The Art of Online Writing by Nicolas Cole towards the end of August. Another book about writing. Look for my review in September. Until then.
