My latest Analytics of 2022 and Reading, Book Blogging Goals for 2023

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases

My Book blog now in December 2022 is two and a half years old.

Compared to the last year 2021 when I read 100 books I managed only 60 books in 2022. But I had 13 five-star rated books and many more 4-star rated. So overall I think it was a good reading year for me. I hope to read a similar amount of books in the coming year.

But more importantly, I want to know what books you read and loved all through 2022. Do share your recommendations because I am forever looking for some great reads.

As was last year here I share all my stats, reading, and blogging, because many of you readers were interested in them. Also, this becomes a place where I record my progress or digress. I can see my areas of improvement and I also become accountable for my promises.

Also when I compare the succeeding years, it’s a boost to myself if I see a peaking chart and growing numbers. So here goes.

Current 2022 statistics & goals

Reading Statistics 2022

Goodreads Goal

My initial goal every year is to read at least 50-52 books which roughly translates to a book a week. Last year I completed that goal around November and by the end of December 2022, I had read 60 books in all.

As is clear from the graphic below I had quite a good reading year with plenty of 4 stars and so many 5-star books.

Books Read

Pages Read

The smallest book I read was 25 pages long – Why I am an Atheist? By Bhagat Singh.

While the longest one was 401 pages long – Dark Matter by Blake Crouch.

In total I read 16203 pages, that’s rounds up to an average of 44 pages per day. I can do better 🙂

Book Read by Publishing Year

Books read are published in mostly the 21st century.

Read 100 Books again

Not 100 but I read 60 books in 2022. My goal was shortened mostly since I was pregnant and had a baby in August, which I was not aware of when I write my goals post in January of 2022.

So I did start with 52 books for the year as my goal and went up to 60.

Read more books outside of my comfort zone

I did read diversely. More books from Indian writers and some great books from Japan and Africa.

I did listen to a few audiobooks too.

Read Books I Own/ Read from my Shelves

I did stick to that goal of mine, but I also did haul some books which were expected I guess.  But none of the books I hauled were recent releases.

Buy Less

Buy Less. That was my mantra for 2022 and stick to it I did. Moreover, whatever books I bought were second-hand copies, so better for the environment and my pocket too.

Read from E-Books bought or downloaded

Somehow, I did not end up reading many e-books and only a handful of books from Kindle Unlimited. I hope to read more books in 2023 from the amazing collection on Kindle Unlimited.

Listen to audiobooks

Audiobooks are a great way of listening to books while doing other more mundane activities like walking or taking care of household chores. And I did just that – some of the amazing books I listened to were – The Color Purple by Alice Walker and Verity by Colleen Hoover. Audible from Amazon has an amazing collection of audiobooks as does Scribd.

Use the Library

I read some amazing books through my library membership, but I used them only for about 8 months. I plan to utilize my library membership for the entire year in 2023 and read as many good books in their catalog as possible.

Yes, more specifically – different genres. Different countries. New authors. Translated fiction. Women authors. Authors from different ethnic backgrounds. LGBT authors and so on. – I did all that.

Continue taking part in reading challenges and readathons and buddy reads

Although I did complete the challenges from bloggers like Uncorked reading and Booklist Queen’s reading challenge I could not cover Kayla’s Buzzword reading challenge ( although it was very interesting).

Continue participating in Blog Tours, but reduce the number of Blog Tours

I did not do any blog tours in 2022. I simply didn’t have the bandwidth for them.

Read One Nonfiction Book Every Month

I did read 13 non-fiction books in 2022. Although I could not read many memoirs – which happen to be one of my favorite genres- this year.

Read NetGalley ARCs every month and get the next badge

I did get the 25 reviews completed badge, in addition, I also got the 80% badge – which means beyond 20 books I have an 80% completion ratio of the books I request.  It's an important parameter for publishers to know how genuine we are about our reading when we request certain books.

Participate in Buddy Reads

Generally, I was very passive on Bookstagram this year, so couldn’t do any buddy reads as such, or any reading challenges associated with bookstagram.

Read at least 5 Days/Week

I did complete this goal and read almost every day of the year, even if it was only a few pages or an audiobook.

Read 100 Books Based in India or Written by Indian Authors

I have made a list of the 100 Indian books I want to read and I hope to complete reading all the titles from this list in the coming few years. In 2022 I read about 5 to 6 books on this list.

I add my views of the book to the list once I've read it. This way I can keep track of my reading and you can decide by reading my views if the books are something you would like to explore.

Do More Blog Hopping and interact more with other bloggers?

I know I wrote a big story about how many other book bloggers helped me and how I'm going to give back to the community, but in the end, I did not prioritize it and ended up not working actively on this goal. My bad!

Plan blog posts/write in advance

Beyond the first quarter, I did not stick to the posts I had planned. But came up with newer better ideas for book posts as I read a variety of books and created those posts instead.

Blog Traffic

I hit 70k page views by the end of 2022 and so surpassed my set goal of 50k page views. Yay!!!

Pinterest – hit 100k views here

Long-form content – wrote at least 12 long-form posts.

Keyword research – I always write my posts after thorough keyword research and I think it shows in the blog numbers I'm touching.

Increase blog followers

Hit 140 email subscribers, yay, surpassed my goal.

Interact with more publishing houses and authors

I did interact with some indie publishers and did get send their latest books to review.

Start doing mini-reviews?

Yes, instead of posting detailed reviews for every book, I now do a roundup at the end of the month with book reviews of the books I read in the month. I do write detailed reviews/ summaries of some books I think need more than a few words, especially new releases of the year or those reviews that are requested by authors or publishers of the book.

Post at least twice a week

I did make posts twice a week but later in the year due to my pregnancy and motherhood that frequency dwindled to once a week or sometimes lesser.

Social Media Goals Achieved for 2022

Get more active on Pinterest and get 100 followers maybe and 100k page views per month.

I garnered 400 followers and reached 100k page views per month and surpassed my goal.

Reach 1500 followers on Twitter

I reached 813 and fell short of my goal.

Reach 3000 followers on Instagram

I am currently on 2015. I Fell short of my goal.

New Book Blogging and Reading Goals for 2023

Reading Goals for 2023

Read 100 Books again in 2023

I plan on reading 100 books once again in 2023 although for now, I’ve set my Goodreads reading goal to 52 – a book a week. I plan on reading some awesome short books and some graphic novels to help complete my goal.

Read more books outside of my comfort zone

I want to read more translated and more books from other countries. Hope I can do that this year. Last year I could read only books from Japan. This year I hope to cover more countries.

Read Books I Own/ Read from my Shelves

Buy Less

Yes, to continue the earlier point I will read from my shelves. Buy less. That’s my mantra for 2023 as well.

Read from E-Books bought or downloaded

Kindle Unlimited has an awesome collection of books that are available to read for free, I hope to read many, many titles from this collection in 2023. I’ve already got a list of 100 great titles I want to read on it for free.

Listen to audiobooks

Audiobooks are something I am going to limit for certain genres, for example - romance. As we can get through a romance book faster than any other book. Also, the written word is important for me in genres like literary fiction and mystery.

Another genre I like listening to on audio is memoirs especially when they are narrated by the author. The experience is sublime.

Use the Library

New releases and popular books are something I can borrow from my library as I've learned. So for these kinds of books specifically I will be using my library membership optimally.

Yes, more specifically – Different countries. New authors. Translated fiction. Women authors. Authors from different ethnic backgrounds. Black authors, Indian authors, LGBT authors, and so on.

Continue taking part in reading challenges and readathons and buddy reads

Last year I participates in an Uncorked reading challenge and Booklist Queen's reading challenge. Although I did want to participate in a booktube challenge as well, I could not keep up. But this year I’m all geared up to complete all three. For those of you interested in joining a reading challenge, here’s a link that explores many more challenges on the blogosphere.

Read One Nonfiction Book Every Month

I will continue this challenge in 2023.

Read NetGalley ARCs every month and get the next badge

I plan to read at least 12 new books from NetGalley, hopefully, one every month, in addition to working through the already growing TBR shelf.

Read at least 5 Days/Week

No tracker this year. But I have created a reading journal where I create new book lists for you. And of course, I will be reading every day of the year.

Read 100 Books Based in India or Written by Indian Authors

Reading 100 Books Based in India or Written by Indian Authors is my major project for the coming years that I have undertaken.

Non-Goals for 2023

2 things I will not be doing this year as compared to last year are – participating in blog tours and participating in buddy reads on Instagram.

Book Blogging Goals for 2023

Plan blog posts/write in advance

I can proudly declare that I already have 36 posts planned for 2023. I have brought a yearly planner. I have jotted down when I will post what and now I am working on the details of each of the posts. By the end of February, I want to be ready with at least 18 detailed posts at least – ready to publish.

I am super excited to share this great content and some amazing books with you.

Buying a planner was a first for me this year and I did so in October last year. Always having a laptop handy was not possible and sometimes I think there is nothing as good as writing it out with pen and paper. I was thrilled when before the end of last year I had all my next year’s content planned and written down in the planner. Cannot wait to share it with you.

Blog Traffic

I did hit 50k page views last year. With the kind of content, I have planned and the consistency, I hope to reach the 100k mark in 2023. Seeing these numbers gives me a boost for reading more books and creating more powerful content for your readers. No matter if I don't reach any of these numbers. In the end, if I can even motivate one of you to pick a book I recommend, my task here is done.

Increase blog followers

Hit 200 email subscribers, hopefully.

Interact with more publishing houses and authors

Get in touch with more publishers so I can share reviews of new releases with you immediately without burning a hole in my pocket 🙂

Continue doing mini-reviews

Yes, a definite and resounding yes.

Post at least twice a month

I have 3 posts planned so that makes it 3 posts every month, but if for some reason I am unable to publish some posts – I will most definitely publish a post every fortnight.

But honestly, I aim to make a post a week and give you at least 50 good posts (I know you’d love that). Fingers crossed.

Social media Goals for 2023

Reach 1500 followers on Twitter

I am Currently around 800 ish.

Reach 3000 followers on Instagram

I am currently on 2k.

Get more active on Pinterest and get 700 followers maybe and continue getting 100k page views every month.

Currently have 400 followers and 60k page views.

Conclusion

None of this (the goals), I know should matter to you as a reader. But this is one post that is more for me than for you. By penning it down here and publishing it in the blogosphere I am accountable for my work and my reading.

I know none of you will hold it against me if I read lesser books or write lesser content, but with the different ups and downs that happen throughout the year, this post will be a guide at the end of the year when I feel lost or confused.

The conclusion is only to read more books, to read better books, and to spread the love of reading.

Happy Reading!
